Faithful effort does not always know in advance which labor will prosper. Th at uncertainty is part of why persistence matters. Ecclesiastes does not promise immediate certainty. It counsels continued sowing in the face of limited knowledge, which is a sober and durable model for work. The line endures because many worthwhile things are planted before their outcome can be seen.
