Let them be disappointed and confounded who seek my soul. Let those who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.

Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.

Let them be ashamed and confounded,.... In Psa 40:14 it i s added, "together"; See Gill on Psa 40:14 ; that seek after my soul; or "life"; in Psa 40:14 it is added, "to destroy it"; for that was the end of their seeking after it; let them be turned backward, &c. See Gill on Psa 40:14 .
