But if the priest examines it, and behold, there is no white hair in the bright spot, and it isn't lower than the skin, but is faded; then the priest shall isolate him seven days.

But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hair in the bright spot, and it be no lower than the other skin, but be somewhat dark; then the priest shall shut him up seven days:

Commentary

But if the priest look on it,.... On the hot burning and bright spot in it, in another pe rson: and, behold, there be no white hair on the white spot, and it be no lower than the other skin; why the word "other" should be supplied I know not, any more than in Lev 13:21 , but be somewhat dark; or "contracted"; see Gill on Lev 13:21 , then the priest shall shut him up seven days; as in the case of the burning boil or hot ulcer, as in Lev 13:21 .
