You shall set the table outside the veil, and the menorah over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and you shall put the table on the north side.

And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.

Commentary

And thou shalt set the table without the vail,.... The table of shewbread, of which see Exo 25:23 , this was not to be within the vail, bu t without it, in the holy place: and the candlestick opposite the table, of which see Exo 25:31 , &c. signifying, that in the church of God, in the present state of things, which the holy place was an emblem of, there are both food and light: the candlestick was placed on the side of the tabernacle, toward the south; according to Jarchi, two cubits and a half from the side of it: and thou shalt put the table on the north side; of the tabernacle, directly opposite the candlestick, two cubits and a half from the south side, as the same writer says;
